The Isle of Sodor is an integral part of Milepost 38 Model Trains and represents our
dedication to encouraging the future model engineers. The hobby of Model Railroading has
been a family tradition for over a century now and is as strong as
ever. Model
railroading as a hobby, helps bring family members together to experience
the fun and creativity of railroading in miniature. Model Railroading
not only bonds family members, but encourages youngsters to learn many
basic skills such as basic electrical wiring, geometry, and many related
mechanical abilities. The hobby also fosters logical thoughts and inspires
curiosity and a respect of history.
When Milepost 38 moved to
its present location it was able to dedicate a significant portion
of the store to the Isle of Sodor section. Milepost 38’s isle
of Sodor section stocks not only Thomas Wooden Railways, but
a great selection of train related and educational items. This section
is dedicated to the youngsters who are not yet ready to move into
the electric train hobby, but still love their trains. What better way to encourage
kids to read than with stories about Thomas and Friends, and their adventures
on the Isle of Sodor.
Our children’s book section is well stocked. We
encourage parents and youngsters to come visit the coolest train store
around. We even have a free Story Time once
a week, so parents can bring the children in to listen. We are “kid friendly
and have play tables available for the young engineers. We have
many great displays for the adults to enjoy too.

We are dedicated to encouraging
new people into the hobby and to helping those in the hobby increase
their knowledge, skill, and enjoyment of the hobby.
We
welcome visits by Scout other groups who want to introduce their
children to a wholesome and educational hobby.
